San Francisco Giants free game podcast. Preview previews, predictions, and predictions before every Giants game. Good morning and welcome back into the pod. It is Sunday morning, April 26th, and it's amazing how much better you can feel after your team wins a game. Complete gloom and doom after Hauser blew it up on Friday and hopeful again after the Giants win yesterday. They just look good. Everyone was getting hit. Schmidt, Lee, Ramos, I think everybody got hits. Orias, everybody except for Adamus and Devers. They've got to move Adamus out of that one hole for sure. He's just not doing anything. And I wouldn't be surprised if, or I don't know, I would maybe be surprised, but it would be nice if they moved Devers down. He has not earned that cleanup spot. It doesn't matter what his history is or what he's making, he needs to be moved somewhere. He's just killing the Giants right there in that four spot. But anyway, other than that, the whole team looked good, everybody's hitting, they look good. And the safe bet of the day came in, which was also good, and it was one of those almost good beats because they came in. He came into the sixth inning with what 80 pitches or something like that. And then just Chapman gets the double, somebody flies out, Schmidt gets the Homer, and he's still only 89 pitches. And then Jung Hu Lee comes and gets a five-pitch walk. He's that's 16 outs. He only needs one more for us to lose, and then they pull him. So we got three out of four guys on base in the sixth to get his pitch count up so high they pulled him with one out to go. So that was awesome. I kind of thought that was gonna be a loser. That's why you never give up, they're never out. Also, the moneyline hit, the over 14 and a half hits hit, so everything was coming in. So anyway, it was just a good game all the way around. Chance to win the series today. It is Max Meyer on the mound for the Marlins. He is a 27-year-old righty. He was the third overall pick in 2020. Supposed to be really good, but he has just battled injuries over the years. Finally, in 2024, he came up, pitched 11 games, but he had a 5.68 ERA, which was not good. Last year, he pitched in only 12 games, had a 4.73 ERA, which is better, but still not that great. So far this year, he's pitched in five games, so he's back, supposedly healthy. He has a 396 ERA, which is even better. 28 strikeouts and 25 innings. So when he's healthy, he's been good. This year so far, in his game in his five games, he's never gone more than 530, pretty much goes five innings every game. Kind of a question mark right now because we're not quite sure if he's healthy. He seems to be he goes five innings every game, gives up two or three runs. That seems to be what all of his numbers just look like. His best games have been at home, so we do get him on the road, but it hasn't been that much difference even between his home and road splits. So, like I said, he's a bit of a question mark. I'm not quite sure what to expect. I'm hoping we get what he's been doing all year, which is giving up two or three runs, three runs usually on the road in five innings. We'll take three runs because he's facing Landon Roop, and you guys know I'm feel the same way about him as I do Robbie Ray. Roop, he's also a 27-year-old righty, but he was not chosen in the first round. He was chosen in the 12th round. So he's kind of got that bum garner mentality, a little bit of a chip on shoulder chip on his shoulder. He looks intense every time he's out there, and he's having his best year so far this year. So I guess like Ray, you could say he might be due for a bad game, but that's kind of hard to bet on. I wouldn't want to bet on that. Right now, he has a 2.28 ERA, and that's even with the one bad game where he gave up five runs. In his other four games, he've get he's given up zero runs in six innings, one run in six innings, zero runs in six innings, and one run in five innings. Those are pretty good numbers. He has had a few too many walks, and the Marlins do have good plate discipline, so that could be one little bit of a worry. But my prediction for the game is that it's gonna be a lot more similar to yesterday's than Friday's, because I think Roop is a lot closer to Ray than he is Hauser. He will have to face the lefties. That could be a bit of a problem. The Marlins do have a lot of good lefties, and they're gonna bring them up against him today, I'm sure of that. I would not be surprised if the Giants have some lineup changes today, actually, also, because I think they got to move Adam's down, and I wouldn't be surprised if they have some changes today after the way Jung Hu Lee's been hitting and Schmidt and Ramos. They might have some changes. That's I kind of expect that. So given all that, when I was looking to think about what I was gonna maybe pick for the safe bet of the day, I I made a little note of what I was gonna look for today. It was gonna be look at the Giants money line because I think they're gonna, I think they'll do well with Roop and our bullpen. I was gonna take a look at Myers outs because he's never gone more than five innings. I was thinking about the first five because Roop has been so good. When I woke up this morning, I had a chance to look at all the numbers, and so we'll go right from there into today's safe bet of the day. And when I looked at the numbers, the money line was minus 126. Seems a little bit juicy, but I still do like that a lot. Meyer's outs were 15 and a half, so that's right about where he's been. The only thing that worries me, I I really like the under on that because he's never gone to 16 outs yet, but he has kind of built up. Last time he was five innings, and then he went five into third last innings. They may be building them up to try to go a little bit longer today. I don't know. The over-under is seven and a half. That's kind of a hard one to take. It's even money on that one. The I kind of like the no runs in the first because of Roop, but that's minus 149, and I'm hoping we have lineup changes that might give us a little better chance of getting something early. So, what I'm gonna do today is I'm gonna mix it up. I'm gonna take a pick that we have never taken yet this year, and that is because I don't like I really like the Giants money lineup, but it's minus 126. Even though that's probably the safest bet, and we are called the safe bet of the day, so I should probably be taking that one. I'm gonna switch it up anyway and take something that's maybe not quite as safe, but I like it. And that is for the Giants to score first. It's plus 113. Always the visiting team is always favored in this because obviously they get to come up first, and so the home team is always a plus money and always more of a little bit of a gamble. But because we have Roop on the mound, I I'm just hoping he can get through the top of that lineup. And if he gets through the top of the lineup in the first, then we're right where we want to be. So I'm gonna go with that one. We're gonna mix it up. Like I said, we're gonna have a little fun today, take something we've never had. This is the kind of game I like it because you get better odds because we're the home team. And I like Roop going up against Meyer. I just have a feeling we'll be able to get a run off of Meyer before they'll be able to get a run off of Roop. Again, the worry is the lefties, but I think Roop will be able to handle those much better than Adrian Hauser did. So I'm gonna make that the safe bet of the day today. Giants to score first plus 113. That's gonna take me to the song of the day, and I'll tell you why I picked this one. It's because I was singing this song yesterday evening after the Giants win and after the safe bet of the day came in. And it's the song you're gonna be singing after this afternoon's victory and the series win by the Giants, and it's a song called Huh I Like It by Wave Runner. I think it's I don't know if you say Wave Runner, it's they got a dot and then W-A-V-R-U-N-N-E-R, like dot wave runner. But put in uh Huh, I like it. That'll probably come up. It is a nice, lively little tune. Get you dancing a little bit, celebrate. And besides that, another way to celebrate is to have the day off tomorrow, which we have off. The Giants are on the road, they're heading to Philadelphia to play the Phillies again. The Phillies have really been floundering, they are 9-18 right now. They started out 6-4 to start the season, and they are 3-14 since they just won yesterday, but they were on a 10-game losing streak before that. It looks like, well, it's the game time is 3 40. It looks like right now it's supposed to be Tyler Malley coming off of his good game against the Dodgers, and they have Jesus Luzardo. So we will not have a podcast tomorrow. We will be back on Tuesday morning to talk about today's win. Hopefully, it's today's win and the series win. And then we will go over this Philly series and the pitching matchup. With that, that's all I have in my notes. So enjoy your Sunday. Hopefully, the Giants win, and we can be celebrating that on Tuesday. As always, stay safe out there and go, Giants.
